Festive Cookery Workshop Fantastic Evening
Friday 9th November 2007
Scott shows Liz how to tighten the roulade by twisting
|
The kitchen in Iwade Village Hall was once more privileged to see resident culinary expert in its midst as Scott demonstrated and helped the Festive Cookery Workshop participants
to make 2 gorgeous canapés, a stunning starter and a divine dessert complete with sugarwork.
Mulled wine warmed up the evening ready for work on the canapés.
The first canapé was cranberry and raisins soaked in brandy, wrapped in filo cigars. The fruit mixture was rolled in 2 layers of filo pastry and the ends tied like a bonbon with chives. These were then baked in the oven.
Then onto the tricky technique of roulade rolling for the Blinis topped with a Scottish smoked salmon and cream cheese roulade finished with fresh dill.

Mediterranean Cookery Workshop Another Hit
Friday 27th January 2006
Algerian Salad and Turkish Skewers Ready for Tasting
|
The second cookery workshop in Iwade, run by Scott our Kiwi chef, was another success.
This workshop was Mediterranean themed with recipes from countries such as Algeria, Turkey, Morocco and Italy.
Again the workshop kicked off with a glass of wine and a tasting/guessing game. This time the tasting included preserved lemons, cinnamon bark, fennel, olives, a selection of vegetables, and toasted coriander and cumin.
Recipes included a delicious Algerian cucumber salad, lover's pasta, Turkish kebabs with Pilaf rice, Moroccan chicken with grapes and couscous, and a fresh pesto. Bob won the game so was first up with Roger to muck in, followed by Steve and Janet.
Another fabulous evening so thanks Scott, we look forward to the next one.

Pilot Cookery Workshop Big Success
Friday 4th November 2005
Scott serves up the Thai Green Curry
|
The first Iwade Cookery Workshop, a Thai cuisine evening, was a big success thanks to Scott Anderson our resident chef.
Scott from New Zealand, shared his knowledge of Thai cuisine with 11 villagers
who teamed up to cook a Prawn Noodle Salad, a Tom Yum soup, a spicy Thai soup with Fishcakes,
a Pad Thai and a Thai Green Curry. The evening warmed up with a glass of crisp white wine and
a Thai ingredients' guessing game. Scott would like to say thank you to everyone for his deli goodies.
