Peter Wilks is the first "Honorary Freeman" of Iwade
Former Chair of Iwade Parish Council and resident of Coleshall Farm for many years Peter Wilks was given the title of "Honorary Freeman" of the Parish of Iwade at the Annual Parish Meeting 2011 chaired by new Chair Stephen Plumb.

Iwade Parish Councillor John White who has known Peter for many years said a few words and presented the honour to Peter.

Councillor Peter Wilks resigned as an Iwade Parish Councillor in December 2010 after many years of service.

Peter served as chairman and demonstrated an interest and expertise in planning and development matters. The council agreed at a meeting in March 2011 to confer the title of "Honorary Freeman" to him for his eminent service to the council.

Also at the Parish Meeting 2011 Jo Richards from 1st Iwade Scouts gave a presentation about Scouts, Cubs and Beavers, Nicola McKenzie gave a talk about the village website and the imminent relaunch and James Hunt said a few words about the Iwade newsletter, the Iwade Observer.

Chair Stephen Plumb opened the meeting with a round-up of the Parish year 2010-11.
