Edward on stage at The Royal Opera House
A big thank you to Phill Hyde, father of Iwade's Edward Hyde who has had an amazing year since winning BBC Young Chorister of the Year at the age of 12. Thanks go to Phill for detailing what Edward has been up to and the beginning of his amazing journey ...... "Edward has had an amazing year since winning a National BBC singing competition and being crowned as The BBC Chorister of the Year at the age of 12. The performance opportunities and recordings this past year have taken Edward around the country and abroad including the opportunity to work and record with some amazing musicians. The list of engagements is an impressive one with many notable highlights for Edward.

Edward has performed for and recorded with BBC Radio 2, 3, 4, BBC Radio Kent as well as singing on BBC television. There have been numerous interviews and articles published throughout the year and Edward was invited to be the first Young Ambassador for Cathedral Music. Working with the BBC Concert Orchestra on a number of occasions including the iconic Friday Night Is Music Night were all very special occasions as was recording with the current BBC Young Musician of The Year - Sheku Kanneh-Mason. Invitations to appear on The Clare Balding Show with Russell Watson and The Dianne Louise Jordan show were both very exciting particularly being broadcast on three different BBC radio stations on Christmas Day.

In addition to winning the BBC competition Edward was also successful after three rounds of auditions in being offered the top treble boy role in the Royal Opera House production of Mozart’s Die Zauberflote. Edward was selected to perform for the worldwide live broadcast that went out to 31 countries and received outstanding reviews. A huge amount of work throughout August, September and October of this year but in Edward’s words ‘a life changing experience working with international music superstars!’

Future projects already agreed include the release of a solo album and to appear as soloist on a new Requiem written by Rebecca Dale for the Internationally acclaimed Decca Classics recording label. Solo performances will also be at the Royal Albert Hall and Symphony Hall in Birmingham and Edward will be singing a piece of music specifically arranged for him by the famous composer John Rutter at Mansion House in October for guests including HRH Duchess of Gloucester.

Edward has still managed to find time to study the trombone at the prestigious Royal Academy of Music and has been successful in gaining a place in the National Children’s Orchestra of Great Britain for the last three years following National auditions each year.

Edward has had an amazing year and has another very busy and exciting year ahead. It is no surprise to hear that Edward wants to become a professional musician when he is older!"

IV would like to wish Edward Hyde all the best now and for the future which looks incredibly promising!
