January Parish Council Roundup!
This article is based on the January 2024 Iwade Parish Council minutes.
The Nisa shop is being taken over by new owners at the end of January. It's not clear if this is still as Nisa or a different name and are unsure as to whether this has already happened.
Jackson Civil Engineering have kindly offered a donation to Iwade Parish Council and this will be used to clear the reedmace in Woodpecker Pond and install a Duck House and two new life rings.
It will also cover the cost of installing a 20mph speed limit in Iwade. It is not clear where this speed limit will apply from the minutes watch this space!
We all love a Southern Water update, think the leak outside Iwade Village Hall that were the source of the roadworks traffic lights for many many months. Water still emerges onto the road from the ground however Southern Water advised in January 2024 that there is no indication of a fresh water leak. KCC will now pass this back to their drainage team to decide on next steps. Meeting with KCC and Southern Water to discuss the leakage investigation to follow. In the meantime do be careful if the water ices up.
Iwade Village Hall is due to receive a defibrillator, gifted by Iwade Parish Council.
There will be a D-Day 80th Anniversary Beacon Lighting on 6th June 2024 and The Paper Mill Silver Band will be invited to play at the event, and the Church invited to take part in Bell Ringing (did you know we have reportedly the oldest pair of bells in the country at All Saints Church Iwade?).
Did you know there is a newly reformed Patient Participation Group at Iwade Health Centre?
The Fish and Chip Shop was closed and mentioned in the minutes but now appears to be vacant and up for rent.
